BODY PRINT

Body Print is an installation using the principles of algorithmic art to capture visitors' "print" by creating a direct relation between body motions and art.

Body Print is a dynamic mural, projected in real time which captures visitors’ body shapes and translates them into aesthetic forms commanded by a code. The mural evolves over time with visitors’ movement and creates for each individual a unique body print. Each print is accumulated to form a unique artwork.

Body Print brings forth an aesthetic composition from the random meeting of different people and create a memory of an event by evoking the fragile continuity of human history over time.

In its classic form an imprint is a physical contact between the body and the material support. But today an imprint can become a "remote" one.

This direct imprint can play on photographic realism or on the bare abstraction of a body silhouette. The body prints may be displayed as ephemeral and virtual projected images but also as images that  exceed the immediate visible reality. The body prints become "hyper-real" by going beyond appearances. We have been insipred by the new representations of the body revealed by medical and scientific imagery and  particularly by thermographic technique.

Our "thermographic" images display the "human warmth" in a way that is both tangible and symbolic.
