TUNA TWEET

TunaTweet is an artwork that calls for the safeguarding of biodiversity by exposing the threats menacing an endangered species, the tuna.

TunaTweet figures represents a tuna silhouette whose flanks are illuminated with changing colors related to the nature of messages tweeted about the tuna issue.

Positive tweets (for example those related to the setting up of protection and conservancy measures) give birth to shades of blue evoking the ocean. Negative tweets (for example those reporting overfishing) generate red hues symbolizing blood and emergency signals.

Through the aesthetic and emotional power of bright colors, TunaTweet brings an affective dimension to information, somehow similar to the middle-age stained-glass windows.

Thus TunaTweet paves the way for the development of an informative contemporary art, the “Data Art”. More specifically “TunaTweet” embodies an ecological digital art.
